Two riders passed away after ‘catastrophic’ 11-bike crash at British Superbikes Championship

Two motorcyclists tragically lost their lives following a major collision involving 11 riders during a British Superbikes event.

Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29, both sustained fatal injuries in the devastating crash, which occurred as competitors navigated the first corner during the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship on Monday (5 May).

The pair were among nearly a dozen riders who lost control of their superbikes—powerful machines capable of reaching up to 200bhp—during the race at Oulton Park, Cheshire, after one rider lost control on the turn.

This led to a chain reaction that resulted in several bikes colliding, with one even catching fire while medics raced to the scene.

Jenner, rider number 86, received on-site medical attention before being taken to the circuit’s medical centre as efforts were made to revive him,

but he sadly passed away due to a serious head injury, as reported by MotorSport Vision Racing.
