Neighbors told local media that the White family appeared to be a “typical suburban family” and expressed shock at the violence.
“They were always smiling and waving when they passed by,” said neighbor Lisa Carmichael. “It’s just heartbreaking.”
Mark White had just graduated from Omaha West High School earlier that day. The school district released a statement expressing condolences to the victims’ loved ones and offering grief counseling for students and staff.
“Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved Mark and his family,” the statement read. “We encourage everyone to seek support during this difficult time.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate and have not disclosed any further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shootings.
The tragic discovery was made after concerned relatives requested a welfare check when the family failed to attend a post-graduation gathering.
