Tragic Train Accident Claims Lives of Three Teens in Utah

In 2011, a community in Utah was left in mourning after three young girls lost their lives in a tragic incident involving two passing trains.

Utah County sheriff Sgt. Spencer Cannon explained that the three teens – Essa Ricker, Kelsea Webster, and her younger sister,

Savannah – had been waving to engineers of the Utah Railway train as it passed through the Covered Bridge Canyon crossing.

Unfortunately, none of them noticed that another train was approaching from the opposite direction.

Cannon stated that the gap between the two trains was minimal, estimated to be just three to four feet. The teens were struck by the second train, and Essa and Kelsea were pronounced dead at the scene.
