Musclebound transgender swimmer wins all five races she entered at Texas contest

In scenes compared to “a real life South Park episode,” transgender swimmer Ana Caldas has dominated every race she competed at the national championships.

At last week’s US Masters Swimming Spring National Championship in San Antonio, Texas, 47-year-old Caldas won all five of her individual races. The swimmer won the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke, the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard individual medley in the women’s 45-49 age group.

Online footage shows Caldas dominating the 50-yard breaststroke competition. Her time of 29.74 gave her a three-second victory.

The athlete used to compete under the name Hugo Caldas in male collegiate competitions. She has also gone by Hannah when competing.

Caldas was ‘simply laughing at these women’, according to a spokesman for the Independent Council for Women’s Sports (ICONS), who also described the time disparity between Caldas and the other swimmers as ‘totally ridiculous’.
