Ohio Governor Mike DeWine also issued a statement expressing his condolences and concern, saying,
“I have been briefed on the ongoing investigation and am sickened by what appears to be an intentional act. Our hearts go out to the deputy’s loved ones and colleagues.”
Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey called the deputy “widely respected” and emphasized the loss felt across the law enforcement community:
“He was so well-liked and so well-known, we could fill this building with people who knew and loved him.”
A solemn procession was held Friday evening in the deputy’s honor, where McGuffey shared that the fallen officer would be accompanied with dignity until his final rest.
Meanwhile, more details are emerging about the police-involved incident involving Ryan Hinton. Body camera footage released by the Cincinnati Police Department shows the moments leading up to the shooting.
