The segment took a meta turn when Stewart mocked CNN’s on-air panel reaction to Tapper’s book release.
He mimicked their praise with a satirical voice, “This is the most important literary work since the Constitution!”
A cutaway skit followed, where Stewart pretended to ghostwrite the book, adding ridiculous Biden quotes. He impersonated Biden saying, “I remember when I invented the internet. Al Gore was just taking notes.”
Stewart also pointed out that the book skips over several major controversies from Biden’s presidency. “Missing chapters include: Afghanistan exit, Hunter’s laptop, and inflation… but hey, great ice cream stories!”
He zeroed in on CNN’s handling of Hunter Biden stories, calling their coverage “strategic silence.”
“CNN ignored it like a dad ignoring dishes — it’s not there if you don’t look,” Stewart cracked.
Jon brought up the media’s duty to challenge those in power, regardless of party. “If journalism were a friendship, CNN is Biden’s golden retriever,” he said to roaring laughter.
