“For the first few seconds, I knew we were crashing, but my mind was in complete shock,” Brown tells PEOPLE.
“The only thing I could do was close my eyes and cradle my arms over my head. It felt like we were crashing forever.”
Authorities later informed Brown that the crash was allegedly caused by a speeding drunk driver
who slammed into them from behind, sending their car flying several feet into the air.
After the car finally landed in the woods, Etienne, 19, called out to Brown repeatedly.Brown was slumped over the glove compartment, unresponsive. She hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt.
