“These groups are well-organized, armed, and highly dangerous,” said a senior law enforcement official.
The gang’s rise coincides with a surge in migrant arrivals at the southern border,
complicating efforts to maintain security.
Local police departments are already reporting an uptick in violent crimes linked to the gang’s operations.
Some cities have seen a spike in armed robberies, drug deals, and assaults associated with the group’s members.
