Florida’s Escalating Execution Schedule
Rogers became the 16th person executed in the U.S. in 2025,
and the 5th in Florida alone this year—marking an uptick in executions under Governor Ron DeSantis.
Another death row inmate, Anthony Wainwright, is set to be executed on June 10 for the 1994 kidnap, rape, and murder of 23-year-old Carmen Gayheart.
Despite appeals, Rogers’ defense team failed to stop the execution.
They argued that his history of child abuse and trauma warranted a life sentence. Courts rejected the plea.
