“We wanted him to stand trial and face the consequences of his actions,” said Rachel Stanton, a representative of the victim advocacy group Safe Haven. “Now, the victims and their families may never get the closure they deserve.”
Prison officials have launched an internal investigation to determine how the incident occurred and whether proper protocols were followed in housing the high-profile inmate.
“We are taking this matter very seriously,” said Warden Joseph Grant. “A thorough investigation is underway to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents.”
