Hollywood has lost another iconic actor as Joe Don Baker, best known for his role in the classic film Walking Tall, has passed away at the age of 89.
The veteran actor, whose career spanned over five decades, reportedly died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and close friends.
Baker first gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Buford Pusser in the 1973 hit Walking Tall, a role that catapulted him to stardom.
The film, based on a true story, told the tale of a Tennessee sheriff waging a one-man war against corruption, and Baker’s powerful performance resonated with audiences nationwide.
Following the success of Walking Tall, Baker continued to land roles in major films, including Charley Varrick and The Outfit, further establishing himself as a versatile and commanding presence on screen.
