Yaron Lischinsky had already bought the engagement ring. He planned to propose to his girlfriend, Sarah Milgrim, during an upcoming trip to Jerusalem.
But that moment would never come. The couple was fatally shot Wednesday night outside a Washington, D.C., museum.
According to the Embassy of Israel in the United States, both Yaron and Sarah worked at the Israeli embassy in Washington. They were attending a diplomatic event together when the shooting occurred.
Authorities say the attack happened after a gathering at the Capital Jewish Museum. The suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, allegedly shouted “Free Palestine” while being taken into custody.
Yaron and Sarah’s deaths have deeply impacted both the embassy and the broader Jewish diplomatic community. Colleagues described the couple as dedicated professionals with a strong commitment to peace.
